September SMPS-KC Update Print

President's Report

It’s September!

Today in Kansas City, there’s a chill in the air. Children are back in school, the Chiefs play tomorrow evening, fall is on the way. All of these are signals that another season is about to begin.

September also signals a new year and new season for the Kansas City SMPS chapter. I am honored to serve as Chapter President and humbled by the chance to lead this incredible organization into the coming year.

Then again, here’s my honest thought: MORE CHANGE? I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times already -- this year has been challenging. If I hear ‘pivot’ one more time, I may file it under “Words I never want to hear again, along with moist, Kardashians and irregardless.” Yet, we will come together and do our best to endure. Our board of directors is hard at work planning fresh programming and we look forward to seeing all of you at our virtual programs soon.

I have a few requests as we begin another year:
1) Reach out at anytime. We want to hear from you. What can SMPS do to help you as you navigate through the rest of 2020?
2) Try one of the programs held by another SMPS chapter. We are collaborating with other chapters to bring forward new programming and new perspectives. Many of these are free for our members!
3) If you aren’t a member, become a member today. A membership with SMPS opens new doors to information, education and professional relationships that will last for years to come.

Be sure to check out our events occurring this month. And I look forward to seeing all of you (in person I hope!) at an event later this winter. Until then, be well (and please wear your masks).
