If you learned about crisis communications in the days before social media and the digital marketing explosion, a lot has changed.  It’s likely that your crisis communications plan may need to be re-tooled to accommodate today’s 24-hour news cycles and address the phenomenon of citizen journalists who can report our story before we even get to the scene of the crisis.  In this presentation, Dr. Matt Tidwell will address the new realities and help you make changes to your crisis communications program that will keep your organization prepared and ready.


Matt Tidwell, Ph.D., APR is the director of the master’s degree program in integrated marketing communications at the University of Kansas. He teaches crisis communications in that program as well as in the KU master’s degree program in homeland security.  A frequent speaker and author on crisis communications planning, he previously spent nearly 25 years in PR practice in the Kansas City area.
