2020 Build Business Scholarship: Call for Applications

SMPS Kansas City is offering a $1,500 scholarship to be used toward a current chapter member's registration and travel expenses for SMPS Build Business in Austin, Texas, August 12-14, 2020.  SMPS Build Business is the premier business development, marketing and management conference for AEC professionals; it is a can't miss event!

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Current SMPS Kansas City member
  • Marketer, Communicator, Business Developer or technical professional  
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience

 

The award will be granted by a scholarship selection committee upon reviewing all applications. The scholarship recipient will be notified on or before Friday, February 21, 2020.  Applicants will be ONLY be notified if they are awarded the scholarship. Scholarship funds must be used for registration and travel expenses for SMPS Build Business and no other purposes.

Application details:

Draft a clear and concise narrative specifically addressing the following topics in the order listed. Narrative should be submitted in a Microsoft Word document or Adobe .pdf and no more than two pages.

  1. Describe your involvement with SMPS, at the local and national level. How has SMPS benefitted you both professionally and personally?
  2. What skills do you hope to gain from attending SMPS Build Business? How will these skills impact your career goals?
  3. What impact would this scholarship have on you and your career?
  4. In your opinion, what could SMPS-Kansas City do better/differently to attract additional members to the organization? Why?

Please include your full name, SMPS membership number, business address, business email and phone number on the narrative form. You may also include any additional insights which may support your application but do not exceed the page limit.
